Disney’s Pop Century Resort take guests on a journey down memory lane with the biggest hits from the 1950s to the 1990s. Guests experience a resort that salutes toys, fashions, catchphrases, unforgettable fads, and music with larger-than-life icons.

 

All of the 2,880 rooms at the value resort have recently been refurbished which makes the resort a fantastic option! Pop Century is a budget-friendly resort that provides a comfortable stay with a celebration of 20th-century pop culture. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is located at 1050 Century Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830.

 
Those planning trips later in 2019 and beyond will want to note that Pop Century is one of the Disney Resorts that will be served by the brand new Skyliner gondola! This will open up a new way to get from Pop Century to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Skyliner gondolas will take flight on September 29, 2019.

 

Room Accommodations:

​Note – The renovation really enhanced the rooms and created more open space for guests. The configuration using a stationary and Murphy bed is becoming popular across Disney resorts.  Both of these beds are queen-sized, versus the double beds previously in these rooms. The room is highly functional with plenty of space, including under-the-bed space for luggage. The rooms are decorated with Mickey Mouse pop art above the bed and Pluto pop art above the Murphy bed.
Transportation
With the retirement of Disney’s Magical Express Service, there are multiple ways that you can get between Orlando International Airport and your Disney resort, including Mears Connect Shuttle.  Consult with your On The Road Travel agent for more information on airport transportation.
Pop Century shares a Skyliner hub with Art of Animation. The Skyliner takes guests to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and other select Disney Resorts.

 Bussing is provided to all parks and Disney Springs, with service approximately every 10-15 minutes.  Below you’ll find the approximate time it takes to get from POP Century to the parks.

Park Commuting Times:
Magic Kingdom – 20 min
Epcot –  10-15 min
Hollywood Studios – 10-15 min
Animal Kingdom – 20 min

Taxi, Uber, and Lyft are available for quick service to anywhere you may need to go, on or off of Disney property. Prices vary.

If you happen to drive your own car to Disney, overnight parking at Pop Century is $15 per night.

Pools
There is one featured pool (Hippy Dippy Pool) and 2 secondary pools (Bowling Pool and Computer Pool) at Pop Century. The Hippy Dippy Pool is dedicated to the ‘groovy’ 1960s and is located directly behind the Classic Hall lobby and food court. The flower-shaped pool is painted in bright colors and has a water play area nearby with bubbling fountains where small children can splash around. Pop Century also has a pool bar named ‘Petals’.

The Hippy Dippy Pool is larger than Pop Century’s other two pools and is significantly busier. If you are looking for a quieter pool, the Bowling Pool and the Computer Pool are great options. Both pools are considered “quiet pools”. The Bowling Pool is designed to look like a bowling alley, featuring bowling ball racks, oversized shoe racks, and other fun details. The Computer Pool is shaped like a laptop computer.
 
None of the pools have water slides, hot tubs, or jacuzzies (those can be found at Disney’s moderate and deluxe resorts).
 
Playground
There is a small playground set located between the 1970s building 10 and Classic Hall. It has a couple of slides and some step-up playground options. There are no swings.
 
There is also a small water play area named “Goofy Pop Jet Playground” that is between the 1960s Building 5 and Classic Hall. The play area features a soft bottom and has water jets that bubble up from the ground.
Dining
Pop Century (like other value resorts) does not have full-service, sit-down dining. The resort has the Everything Pop Food Court which is set up similar to a food court at a local mall. You will find pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken nuggets, etc. Most of the food is prepared on demand, so you will be able to get your food cooked to order. Breakfast consists of the standard breakfast options – eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and waffles. There is also a special counter for pastries. One of the signature items at Everything Pop is the Tie-Dyed Cheesecake. It is a multi-colored cheesecake that sits atop a red velvet cake “crust.”
Free refills are available for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and fountain drinks (including juice and milk) during your meal at Everything Pop. The beverage station is near the cash registers. This area also includes toaster ovens, hot water, ice, condiments, and napkins. Everything Pop also participates in Disney’s Rapid Fill refillable mug program, where you purchase a souvenir plastic mug once, and get free refills for the length of your stay.  Everything Pop is open from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM daily.
Extras
Pop Century’s gift shop is also called ‘Everything Pop’ and sits between the lobby and food court. As you would expect from a Disney gift shop, Everything Pop has a collection of souvenirs ranging from keychains to Disney princess dresses. Prices for these items are about what you’d pay in the theme parks or Disney Springs.  The shop also has a small selection of necessities that you may have forgotten to pack, including over the counter medications, toiletries, and snacks.
 
Pop Century offers Walt Disney World’s free Movies Under the Stars program. The resort plays a family-friendly Disney film select nights of the week on an outdoor screen. You can find the movie schedule in Classic Hall.
 
The resort also offers pool games, crafts (you won’t want to miss the Mickey tie-dye), scavenger hunts and other types of fun. Be sure to check out the activities schedule at Classic Hall.
 
My Review
I have stayed at this resort with my family numerous times. The resort has a fun theme, great transportation options with the Skyliner, recently renovated rooms, and a family-friendly atmosphere. I often spend my time at the parks and enjoy dining throughout Disney World, so I do not require a full-service restaurant at my resort.  The resort is perfect for families who spend long days in the parks and do not need all of the bells-and-whistles.  
 
Rooms at Pop Century, like every value and moderate resort have a motel-style, open-air entry. If you want to reduce your walks within the resort, I recommend upgrading to a preferred room over a standard. It is worth the additional charge per night at Pop Century!
